2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 Chevrolet Silverado

Pickup trucks have become so much more than just a coworker on the construction site, they are now luxurious offices on-the-go and even family road trip companions. This can make it difficult to find the one that truly meets the needs of your busy lifestyle. That is why we have created this comparison review, showcasing what two of the segment's models have to offer. One the left, is the 2020 Ram 1500 and on the right, we have the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. Continuing reading below to see how these trucks stack up and which one we recommend!

2020 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

The Ram 1500's powertrain lineup is fantastic! The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that is boosted by eTorque mild-hybrid technology. This engine pumps out up to 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. If you are in need of more power, you can opt for the available 395 horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine that is offered both with and without the eTorque technology. The last engine offered for the Ram 1500 is brand new for 2020. This 260 horsepower 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine produces up to 480 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are paired with an automatic 8-speed transmission and a rear-wheel-drive configuration. However, a four-wheel-drive configuration is available.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

There are a lot of engines offered to power the Chevrolet Silverado, seven in total and it can be very overwhelming to try and find the one that meets your needs. The base engine is a 285 horsepower 4.3-liter V6. Other engine options include three versions of a 5.3-liter V8, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6, a 2.7-liter turbo inline-4, and a 6.2-liter V8. All of these engines are paired with a different transmission option which makes it even more frustrating to find the one that works best for you. Rear-wheel drive is the standard configuration but four-wheel drive is offered.

2020 Ram 1500 Features & Design

Drivers can choose from six Ram 1500 trim levels in the 2020 model year. The base model is called the Tradesman and it comes with standard features like in-floor storage, 18-inch steel wheels, a six-speaker sound system, keyless entry and ignition, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, a 5-inch touchscreen interface, the Uconnect infotainment system, and trailer sway damping. The 1500's upper trim levels expand on the Tradesman with features like side steps, chrome wheels, cargo tie-down hooks, smartphone integration, a 12-inch touchscreen interface, heated/ventilated seats, a four-corner air suspension, and so much more. Plus, the Rebel trim level is equipped with features for off-roading!

2020 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

Just like with the engines, there are an overwhelming amount of trim levels offered for the Silverado, eight in total. The base trim comes outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, smartphone integration, Bluetooth, and steel wheels. The upper trim levels don't add a ton, just a few more features per trim until you get to the much higher trim levels and then the price starts getting more and more expensive. Most of the features you really want are locked away behind very expensive packages.

We have reviewed what both of these full-size pickup trucks have from engine options to trim levels, and it is clear that the 2020 Ram 1500 is the one to choose! Although it looks like the Silverado offers more because of the numerous engine options and trim levels, it's actually just overwhelming and unnecessary. When you choose the Ram 1500, you get a very well-equipped trim lineup with three sturdy engines that will get the job done! If you are ready to upgrade your current ride to a 2020 Ram 1500, come on down and check out all the models we have to offer on our lot!
