2022 Grand Wagoneer vs Lincoln Navigator

The premium large SUV segment is as competitive as it is attractive. There are so many viable options clambering to be the best on the market, and with so many competitors it's easy to lose sight of what they actually offer. You want an SUV that has it all: comfort, convenience, style, safety, and the list goes on! Today, we'll be taking a deep dive into the new 2022 Grand Wagoneer, a luxury 8-seat SUV from Jeep, as well as the 2021 Lincoln Navigator. By comparing these two options side by side, we hope to shed some light on which SUV best fits the needs of you and your family. 2022 Grand Wagoneer Power & Handling

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer provides a robust powertrain that serves all four of its trim levels. The engine is a 6.4-liter V-8 rated at 471 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is connected to an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This system provides a wealth of low-end torque, which helps the Grand Wagoneer realize its maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds. The Quadra-Lift Air Suspension System gives the Grand Wagoneer a maximum ground clearance of 10 inches, allowing for up to 24 inches of water fording. For those seeking even more capability, there's an available Advanced All-Terrain package that adds skid plates, tow hooks, and Selec-Terrain traction management.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Power & Handling

The 2021 lineup of the Lincoln Navigator features three trim levels, all of which utilize the same powertrain. The standard engine is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which offers 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped with the Trailer Tow Package, the Navigator can tow up to 8,700 pounds. Unfortunately, this trails the Grand Wagoneer's towing capacity by over 1,000 pounds. The engine on the Navigator is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive is standard on all but the top trim, which features 4-wheel drive. The everyday driving experience is smooth and sturdy with the Navigator, though due to its large and boxy stature, maneuverability can prove difficult in tight spaces.

2022 Grand Wagoneer Features & Design

The 2022 Grand Wagoneer features a modern yet classic design that has subtle nods to the Jeep heritage brand. It has a 7-slot grille and acoustic-laminated windshield, with a tri-pane panoramic sunroof available to all trim levels. Inside, the interior is upholstered in standard Nappa leather or premium quilted Palermo leather, with real open-pore walnut wood accents on the dashboard. The Grand Wagoneer offers an industry-exclusive 23-speaker McIntosh sound system, a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a front passenger display, Rear Seat Entertainment displays, and Amazon Fire for Auto connectivity. There's also 4G LTE Wi-Fi, wireless Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa and Android Auto integration, and a wireless charging pad.

2021 Lincoln Navigator Features & Design

As mentioned above, the Navigator features a large and rectangular design. It has a striking front grille bearing the Lincoln emblem. The interior seats up to 8, with simulated leather on the base level trim, and real leather on the first two rows of the upper trims. Like the Grand Wagoneer, the Navigator also features wood accents on the dashboard and door panels, and ambient LED lighting. The dashboard also features a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with a wireless charging pad situated in the center console. The upper two trims offer a Revel Ultima sound system developed by Harman Kardon with 16 speakers throughout the cabin. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, a Head-Up Display, and adaptive LED headlights.

Conclusion:

Though both these SUVs offer a wealth of exciting and luxurious features, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer is ultimately the stronger choice between the two. The Grand Wagoneer provides many of the Navigator's most attractive features, while also going above and beyond to provide a more advanced sound system, infotainment system, and more premium materials throughout.
