The long winter months seem to finally be behind us and we are sure that you are itching to get back out on the road, behind the wheel of your Jeep and embark on new adventures. Whether you have plans to cross the country and see all the greatest sites or are just off-roading in your neighborhood, your Jeep needs to be ready. Here at Newark Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we offer a great service center that you should take advantage of. Keep reading as we go over what the spring maintenance tips we recommend!

Maintenance Tips

Change the Oil and Oil Filter: Your Jeep's oil is incredibly important to the overall well being of not only the engine by the entire Jeep! Overtime, the engine's oil can coriode and accumulate debris impacting the engine's function and the Jeep's fuel economy. If you neglect it too long, it can cause serious engine damage. This is also a great time to swap out the oil filter as well!

Check/Change Other Fluids: You already have the hood popped, so now is a good time to check and change all the other fluids. This includes the power steering, transmission, and brake fluids as well as the coolant, and windshield washer fluid. If you notice that the levels are low, go ahead and top them off. It's important to note that the coolant, power steering, and brake fluid systems are closed which means if they are low, that could indicate a leak somewhere.

Replace Your Wiper Blades: Lower the hood and move to the windshield. We tend to use our wipers quite a lot in the winter months, keeping the windshield free from snow, slush, and dirty kickback from other vehicles ahead. This can impact how effective the wipers are, from cracks or tears, and its important to swap them out so they are ready to clear away all the rain spring brings.

Check Your Tires: At the only point of contact with the road, your Jeep's tires are incredibly important. If you currently have snow tires on, go ahead and switch them with our other set to get ready for spring. Your summer or all-season tires should be properly inflated, check to see the markings on the tires for how much air they need and the tread needs to be in good condition. You can use the penny trick to easily monitor the tread of your tires. If you place a penny in the tread near the center of the tire and can see any part of Lincoln's head, it's time for a new set!
